Hotel Review: Osmanbey Cave House

Cappadocia is one of the places that became extremely popular due to Instagram. The unique nature plus hundreds of hot air balloons made this place one of the must see world destinations. In recent years the Goreme economy has become near 100% tourist industry. They opened tons of restaurants and even more hotels. For those who are coming to Goreme for the first time, it is important to have suitable accommodation. So, I hope that this unbiased review of Osmanbey Cave House will help you with your search for a good place to stay.

Location

Osmanbey Cave house has a great and at the same time a terrible location. Read further, I will explain.

The great part is that the hotel is located in the center of Goreme and just 3 to 5 minutes to our favorite restaurants

The terrible part is that the hotel is located right next to a mosque. So forget about having a good sleep. You will wake up every morning between 4 and 5 am and listen to very loud prayers from the loudspeakers right next door.

Public Area

Osmanbey Cave house has two public spaces. The first one is a small  courtyard with a table and a few chairs. The second is a rooftop where you are served breakfast.

Unfortunately, the rooftop is quite small and there is no nice seating for a sunrise picture with all those hot air balloons.

Service

The staff at Osmanbey Cave house was very friendly and welcoming. They offered to help us with all the arrangements, but since it wasn’t our first time there we had already arranged everything.

The Room

We got a room on the second floor facing the courtyard with a queen bed. The bed was quite comfortable and the room – spacious. In the room you can find a flat screen TV, a desk, a few chairs, a small fridge, and two side tables.

Bedroom

Other than such a proximity to the minaret there was also a problem with a glass sliding door on the first floor. We usually go to bed pretty early (around 11 PM), and of course I know that some people like to stay up late. So, at 1 AM when someone would come back to their room, that door sound was so loud I would wake up every time.

The bathroom at Osmanbey Cave house was standard. A shower with good pressure. All the amenities were provided and towels were changed on the request.

Breakfast

Osmanbey Cave house has their breakfast included. So every morning we would be seated at the table on the rooftop and served a quite good breakfast.

Osmanbey Cave House breakfast

There was always a good variety of food and drinks you could get. As soon as you are at the table, the waiter will bring you a standard plate of cheese, olives, and pastry, and ask you what you drink and if you wish to have an omelet or something else.

I want to compliment the staff for being very attentive. Every time we needed our coffee refill or more bread, the staff would do it immediately.

I guess during Covid they don’t have breakfast buffets.

Conclusion

Osmanbey Cave House is a charming little place with good location, and helpful staff. I don’t recommend staying here, because while there were some positives, the negatives outweigh them in my opinion. If you are looking for something within a similar price point as Osman Bey Cave Hotel I would suggest booking Cappadocia Caves Hotel which we stayed at four months prior.
