Where To Eat In Bukovel, Ukraine

Bukovel is a biggest ski resort in Ukraine and has many good places to eat. I made a list of where to eat in Bukovel for any budget and occasion.

Gribova Hata

Gribova Hata is one of the most popular restaurants in Bukovel. The restaurant serves traditional Carpathian food including Carpathian trout and soup with white mushrooms. One of their specialties is a borshch served in a bowl made of bread with salo and garlic.

The restaurant’s outside looks like a fairytale mushroom house and inside it is a mix of a crazy grandma house and a cave made of salt. All the staff wear traditional Ukrainian clothes and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

The food is very delicious and can be quite heavy for your stomach. The restaurant also has a wide selection of their own alcoholic tinctures which you can buy as a souvenir on your way out.

SALO

SALO is another popular restaurant in Bukovel. It is located in the very center of the ski resort. This restaurant, as well as Gribova Hata, serves traditional Carpathian and Ukrainian cuisine.

SALO has fantastic appetizers, delicious main courses, and unique desserts. And although the prices are higher than average, their food is worth it.

For those who don’t know, the word “salo” means pork fat or lard. Ukrainian people do love salo with their borshch.

Borzo Varenyky

Borzo Varenyky is another restaurant that is located in the center of Bukovel, right next to the bottom of a few slopes. It is a great place to get a quick snack after skiing or snowboarding.

This restaurant is self service, where you can try different types of varenyky (dumplings) and some side dishes. The price is set the same per 100g for any kind of varenyky.

The place has a nice view of the mountains and is in a perfect spot for a quick lunch between skiing.

Rondel Bar&Grill (Lounge Matras)

Rondel Bar&Gril is located on the river, next to slope #1. On the upper floor you will find a restaurant and on the bottom there is another place that is called Lounge Matras. Lounge Matras is a hookah cafe and nice sitting area.

Rondel Bar&Gri offers European/Ukrainian cuisine. The food is good, but the best of all is the view from the restaurant. This place has many big windows that face the slope and you just can enjoy your coffee in a warm cozy place while watching people ski.

Filvarok

There are many restaurants in Bukovel that are called “Filvarok” and most of them are located at the top of the ski slopes. And if you are skiing or snowboarding, you can visit any of them. For those who came to Bukovel just to relax I recommend taking lift #2 to the top of the mountain (this lift is just for tourists and not skiing or snowboarding).

Filvarok restaurant is a nice cozy place where you can get warm and order a snack or just a glass of mulled wine (by the way, they don’t have it on the menu, so you will need to ask “hlintvein?”).

In the center of the restaurant there is a big fire pit and the whole place somehow reminds me of a circus tent.

At Halyny

“At Halyny” restaurant I discovered just because I had my accommodation next to it and I was too lazy to go anywhere far to eat. Surprisingly, the restaurant that is located on the second floor of the hotel has very good food with very good prices. What surprised me most is that they have an English menu.

This restaurant looks a bit Sovietic, but even so the food was very good. When I went there were four in our group and each person got something that was very delicious.

Naturlich

Same as the previous restaurant I have discovered Naturlich because it was close to my accommodation. The place looks a bit like an English bar with heavy wooden tables and chairs and dark lights.

The place has a nice selection of beer snacks (onion rings, basturma, cheese sticks, salty nuts and others) and main courses. The food is quite delicious and the prices are very good. This is a great place for those who are visiting Bukovel on a budget.
