The Best Place To See The Hollywood Sign

Seeing the Hollywood sign is one of the most iconic things to do while visiting Los Angeles. There are quite a lot of places with a great view of the Hollywood sign. However some of them are quite difficult to get to, and others are overcrowded. But there is one location that I truly like. I consider it to be the best place to see the Hollywood sign.

Just over the Hollywood Reservoir, a bit hidden away, lies the small but clean Lake Hollywood Park. Here you’ll find an incredible view of the famous sign. A big plus of this view is that the park itself is very green and quite beautiful, so the pictures are meant to be great. 

Another plus of going to Lake Hollywood Park is that it is not that well known, and it is not overcrowded with tourists. At the time we arrived (midday) there were just two other groups in the park. 

There is also no problem with parking. You can park your car along the road until 6 PM. 

At the park there is a vendor who offers cold drinks and fresh fruits, so you can combine a picnic at the park with taking photos of the famous sign.  

After you visit the park, walk a bit further up along the road and you will find another great spot to take a picture of a Hollywood sign. However, that spot is usually more crowded than the park itself. And I don’t find the pictures as great as if you just took them from the park.

Note: To get to the park you will have to drive through a residential area. Remember about the speed limit, be careful while driving, and be respectful. People there don’t really like tourists coming to their area. They even put up a sign that says “No Access To Hollywood Sign”, which I’m not sure is legal, but I can definitely see them getting very annoyed with bad tourists.
