Krisflyer Gold Lounge Review Chang’i Terminal 2

On our recent flight from Singapore to Chennai we finally got to experience a Singapore Krisflyer Gold lounge. Although we were flying on Air India, this lounge was accessible for all Star Alliance Gold Members, and as Cody has status, we got entry.

This lounge is located in Terminal 2, however there is also a Krisflyer Gold Lounge in Terminal three as well.

Location

The lounge is located on the second floor, right after you get past passport control. As Chang’i does security check at the gate, it’s a pretty streamlined process from check in to lounge.

After you get past immigration, just turn left and head up the first escalator to the second floor. Right in front of you is the unmistakable dark wood entrance of the Krisflyer Gold Lounge. A simple status check and we made out way to our seats.

The lounge itself is fairly dark which is a bit old fashioned in my mind. It’s not necessarily bad, but I am used to most lounges with large windows facing the tarmac. There are rows and rows of armchairs and tables, and plenty of charging ports to use.

We found the internet to be quite fast, but it was also 8 in the morning so it’s possible it slows down later in the day when the crowds roll in.

Krisflyer Gold Lounge Food

The food is served in a simple self serve buffet style with plenty of hot and cold dishes. Usually flying early in the morning means a weak selection of food, however in this case the entire table was packed with stuff.

There were a few coffee machines, plenty of fresh juice and tea choices, as well as a refrigerator of bottled soft drinks and beers. There was also a hard alcohol section with various spirits.

I had a simple bread and jam, cappuccino, and some quail eggs, along with a healthy amount of dim sum. Cody had hash browns, chicken and egg foldovers, a blueberry muffin, and croissant. For other hot food they had on offer Nasi Goreng and Laksa, but neither of us felt like that for breakfast.

Dim Sum

The blueberry muffin was fantastic though, with a jam filled center that had a great flavor. Similar to the candied mini croissant we had in the Barcelona lounge, I find most airlines have a great signature pastry.

A nice bonus is this lounge has a Tiger tap. I find almost all lounges have beer cans or bottles, but it is nice when there is a tap to pour a nice draught. Even though it was 8am, it was still a travel day and a breakfast beer is the right decision.

Ammenities

Other than the wifi, there was a workstation with desktop computers, along with daily newspapers. The cleaning staff was quick and polite in making sure all vacated seats and tables were cleaned and I do appreciate the good job they were doing.

The bathrooms unfortunately are not inside the lounge, but right outside it. However as this is still Chang’i they were expectedly very clean.

Krisflyer Gold Lounge Final Thoughts

Overall I quite liked this lounge, and I don’t have any major complaints. I will say that I did expect more seeing as Singapore Airlines is one of the best airlines in the world, and the lounge was only above average as opposed to exceptional. Maybe next time we will check out the SilverKris Business Class lounge as intra-Asia reward tickets are quite easy to get on our preferred Star Alliance membership program.
