After spending two weeks on the Cycladic Greek islands of Paros and Milos, Athens was a nice contrast for us. And although we had just a two-days stopover in Athens we enjoyed every second of it. One of the reasons was our time at the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel.
Although the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel is not located in the very center of Athens, it is a short walk to all the historical sights you would want to see, including the Acropolis of Athens.
Around the hotel you will find some pretty good restaurants (try Mironi restaurant), and many convenient stores.
Wyndham Grand Athens hotel has a huge luxurious foyer with sitting areas. On the top floor of the hotel you will find a cute terrace with a pool and a bar with delicious cocktails.
The service at Wyndham Grand Athens hotel is good. The receptionists were very friendly and welcoming. We checked in in a few minutes which was a relief, since we all were very tired.
The one thing that I didn’t like is the cleaning service the next day. It looked like the made just exchanged the towels and that is all. The bed wasn’t made and the floor wasn’t swiped. That for sure wasn’t a five star hotel’s service.
After small hotel rooms on the islands with not so comfortable beds, the room at Wyndham Grand Athens hotel was like heaven. The room we got (family room) was spacious with a king size bed plus there was a twin size bed as well that we didn’t use. The bed was really comfortable, we got enough pillows and plugs on each side.
The room had everything else you might need: a big flat screen TV, a desk, some comfortable chairs, a small fridge, and a spacious wardrobe. A big plus for us was a proper coffee machine (can’t start my day without morning coffee).
A pleasant surprise for us was a complementary plate of sweets and a small bottle of Ouzo. Not that I am a fan of this drink, but I like free stuff.
The bathroom at the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel was spacious with a rainfall shower. All the bath amenities were provided of course. The towels, like almost everywhere in Europe, were huge, but as always rough.
We didn’t have an included breakfast. You can of course book a room with breakfast, or pay €18 per person once you are there.
Wyndham Grand Athens hotel is a beautiful hotel with great rooms. Everything here looks luxurious (or at least it looked to me after living on the Greek islands in small hotels).
The hotel provided a nice two days rest for us before going on the road again. One complaint is just the cleaning service, but maybe we were unlucky with that.
I hope this hotel review will help you make your mind about whether to stay at the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel or not.
