Budapest is one of the places that is quickly becoming a very popular tourist destination. Tourists are attracted to many historical sites, beautiful architecture, and reasonable prices (compared to other European cities like Paris or Barcelona for example). One of the most important things in traveling is your accommodation. During our trip in Budapest we stayed at the Leonardo boutique hotel. Here is an honest review of this hotel with all the pluses and minuses. I hope this article will help you make your mind about whether you would like to stay here or not.
Budapest is split into two parts (by the river): Buda and Pest. And although Buda and Pest have things to offer for a tourist, I recommend staying in Pest.
Pest is definitely a better choice if you want to be within a close distance to the nightlife of Budapest, visit the most unique epic bar – the Ruin Bar, or try a delicious cocktail at one of the best cocktail bars I’ve ever been to.
Leonardo Boutique hotel is located in Pest, in a great location. You need just a few minutes to walk from the hotel to most of the popular spots that you will want to visit.
Leonardo Boutique hotel has a cute public area on the first floor by the front desk. Although it is not a big space, you will be quite comfortable there while waiting for your taxi, or to check in, if you come too early.
Next to the front desk there is also a restaurant. Unfortunately we didn’t eat at this restaurant, since we already had a list of places we wanted to visit.
Leonardo Boutique hotel has a terrace on the 7th floor that some guests have direct access from their room. The terrace is quite big and has an incredible view of the area.
Our check-in and check-out were very fast. It took us less than 2 minutes to get our key.
For those who want to leave your luggage at the hotel for a while after check-out, or before check-in, there are cabinets with electronic lockers that you can use for free. That is what we did, but here is the thing: when putting a pin code on the locker my hand slipped and I couldn’t open the locker. I had to go to the front desk and ask for help… embarrassing, right? Luckily the guy at the front desk was really friendly and helped me right away.
The cleaning service we received every day and almost always it was a decent job, but just some time it looked like other than the trash was removed and the bed fixed, nothing else was done.
Our room was really nice. We got a room on the 7th floor with the terrace and, as you already understood, a great view.
The room itself was quite big and comfortable. There was a queen bed with two side tables and plugs from both sides, a desk with an electric kettle, coffee machine, and everything you need for making coffee or tea. The room also had TV, two comfortable chairs, a wardrobe, and a place to put your luggage.
The bathroom at the Leonardo Boutique hotel was quite big with a walk-in shower. Shampoo and soap were provided by the hotel as well.
The one annoying thing about that bathroom was that the vent started to work soon after you turned on the light and turned off itself 5 – 10 minutes after you left the shower. Maybe it is not a big deal, but for some reason it annoyed me a lot.
Due to a good location, a comfortable room, and a decent service, Leonardo Boutique hotel is a great place to choose as your accommodation in Budapest.
