There are many beautiful places in the world that can take your breath away, especially beaches with the turquoise water and white fine sands. But there are also some places that look out of this world, like a picture from a fairytale. Here is a list of five beautiful beaches around the world.
If you ever did research, or have heard about Komodo dragons, you know that you can find them at the Komodo National park in Indonesia. It is not the easiest trip to do, but well worth it, since besides the Komodo dragons you will see so much more, including a stunning pink beach on Padar island.
Padar island actually has a few pink beaches, and different tours will take you to different spots, but all of them are amazingly beautiful.
During our Komodo trip we visited the one that is called “Secret Pink Beach” on the Northwest of the island.
To be frank I didn’t really expect much from this location. All the photos I have seen before looked like they were overly saturated, so I thought that the beach itself wasn’t anything interesting. However, I was very mistaken (kinda what happened to me when I visited the pink lake in Kherson, Ukraine).
The secret pink beach that we visited was actually pink, especially by the shoreline. This magic is happening due to an organism that is called foraminifera. It has a red body that with time dries, breaks (kind of like corals) and turns into sand. That is why the sand on some of the beaches on Padar island is pink.
Zakynthos island is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. And Shipwreck beach is the most iconic and one of the most recognizable beaches in the world. No wonder this place of such beauty cannot stay unnoticeable.
Shipwreck beach is quite a beautiful beach by itself, but the real popularity and appreciation of this place came after 1980. In 1980 a cargo ship got stuck at this beach and it created unique, and very special scenery.
Nowadays tourists from all over the world come to Zakynthos to see the beauty of the Shipwreck beach.
There are two ways to see Shipwreck beach: from the sea, and from the cliff over the beach.
Personally I would recommend doing both: visit Shipwreck beach by a boat and explore it on your own during the day, and visit the cliff during the golden hours and take some amazing pictures of the beach and cliffs around it.
Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Lee island is one of the most famous beaches in Thailand. This is the beach from the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio (although in my opinion Maya Bay beach was the main character in the movie). So, chances are you already know how beautiful this place is.
There are no resorts, hotels, or any infrastructure whatsoever on Koh Phi Phi Lee. The only way to get to see this magical beach is by boat. The most popular starter point where you can book a day/half day trip to see Maya Bay is Koh Phi Phi island (quite beautiful island itself with many things to do).
The government of Thailand is trying to preserve Maya Bay beach. Once in a while they will close access to the beach for tourists and locals for a few years. This gives nature a chance to restore the damage that boats and people create.
I actually got very lucky with timing, since just a few months after my last visit to Maya Bay, the island was closed down from 2018 until 2022.
One of the reasons people come to Rio de Janeiro is to visit Copacabana beach. Copacabana is without a doubt the most famous beach in the world.
Copacabana beach is a long strip (around 4 km) of golden sand, bordered with the famous boulevard and tons of beach bars, hotels, and restaurants. It is surrounded by the exotic city of Rio de Janeiro, and the thick greenery of Brazilian rain forests.
Besides its beauty, Copacabana beach is a great place to have a non-active holiday. There are tons of vendors on the beach that offer beach chairs and umbrellas, fresh coconut water, cold beers, and tons of great street (sand?) food. You don’t even need to get up and walk somewhere to buy the food, the vendors will come to you as soon as you flag them down.
If you haven’t been to Turkey before, you probably don’t have any idea how beautiful the coast of this country is. The water color and some of the beaches will blow your mind away.
Near one of the small fishing villages known as Kas, there is one of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey – Kaputas beach.
International tourists don’t really know about this beach, since Kas village (a beautiful colorful place) mostly attracts local tourists.
Kaputas beach is located at the bottom of the cliff and to get there you need to use a quite steep staircase. There is a food court at the bottom of the cliff, which makes the visitors’ life much easier. You can change there, use the bathroom, or get some refreshments.
The best part of this place is the colors. Magical crystal clear turquoise water flows over soft golden sand. Even in the off season Kaputas beach is worth visiting just to see those amazing colors for yourself.
