Best Rooftop Bars In Hong Kong

As the city of skyscrapers, one of the best things to do is enjoy the nightlife from the tops of a tall building. These rooftop bars in Hong Kong all offer amazing views of the city and usually have top notch cocktails to boot. Whenever I am in Hong Kong I always make it a point to grab drinks with friends from a great rooftop bar where we can enjoy the cool evening air while sipping well-crafted cocktails.

Wooloomooloo

This Australian steakhouse has a few locations in Hong Kong, however the one with the world class rooftop is located in Wan Chai. This is my personal choice for the best rooftop bars in Hong Kong as it offers 270 degree views north, east, and south from the top. Drink prices range from $10-$20 USD and give you access to the great views. Be sure to arrive early as this rooftop bar is extremely popular and seats fill up quick. The restaurant, located on the 31st floor, is a fantastic steakhouse so it’s quite popular to have dinner inside, then head upstairs for a cocktail to finish of your night.

The rooftop opens at 3pm every day, and stays open until late.

Ozone

Ozone is known as the highest bar in the world and is located at the top of the International Commerce Center. This is the tallest building in Hong Kong and was one of my choices for coolest buildings in Hong Kong. The view from the top doesn’t come cheap however, as the cheapest thing on the menu is a 330 ml Corona for about $13 USD. But who goes to the Ritz not expecting to empty their wallet. From the top you have a completely unobstructed view across the harbour where you can see the entire Hong Kong Island skyline on a clear night.

On Sundays Ozone plays host to their famous Dom Perignon Brunch, where you can drink unlimited champagne and enjoy a delicious Brazilian buffet.

The rooftop is open from 5pm every night and closes at 1am, or 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ce La Vi

Ce La Vi is a rooftop bar fit for the party crowd. Towering over popular Lan Kway Fong, you have to enter the California tower and make your way up to the 25th floor to enjoy this world class bar. There is a DJ playing enjoyable music all night long. You can order food here, and there is a wide variety of small plates to complement your delicious drinks. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to get one of the best booths on the roof, otherwise you may be stuck at a standing table. It’s not all bad though, as that gives you easy access to order directly at the bar and socialize with all the other strangers. I have only been here twice, both times during the RISE conference, so the entire roof was filled with venture capitalists and techies winding down after a long day of meetings and lectures.

Sugar

Sugar is a great rooftop bar and one of my absolute favorites. It is located in TaiKoo, directly above the TaiKoo MTR station. It offers 180 degree views of Kowloon across the harbour. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and they have extremely reasonable prices. There is less of a party atmosphere, being far enough away from Central, which makes Sugar a great rooftop bar to have business meetings over drinks. I’ve had plenty a short meeting turn into an all night affair while sipping their top-notch cocktails with great Lo-Fi music playing in the background.

SKYE (rooftop bar at Hotel de Park Lane in Hong Kong)

This bar, located on the 27th floor of the Hotel de Park Lane offers magnificent views of Kowloon across Victoria Harbour. The restaurant, SKYE Dining offers up contemporary French cuisine. Even though it is a five star hotel, the prices are reasonable for the quality you receive. The bar opens every day at noon and closes at 1 am. The best thing about this bar is it never seems to get too crowded. You may want to make a reservation at the restaurant for the evenings but you cannot make one for the rooftop bar. However due to the awesome layout of the bar it never feels claustrophobic.
