Lviv, Ukraine is arguably the best city in the country – and I’m not just saying that because I live there. From the beautiful architecture, delicious and trendy restaurants, and being the cultural center of the country, there is no shortage of reasons to visit. However one thing always stands out to visitors – the abundance of coffee in Lviv.
There are so many things to do as a tourist to Lviv, but in between the museums, parks, and other activities, you should take a minute for a delicious cup of coffee. For those that don’t know, Lviv is where coffee entered the Austrian Empire over 200 years ago so Ukraine actually has one of the oldest cafe cultures in Europe!
This list of places to get coffee in Lviv includes independent cafes as well as local chains (2-3 locations). As there is a coffee shop on nearly every block, you won’t have an issue getting a delicious cup of joe whenever you want.
Black Honey consistently makes locals’ lists of best coffee in Lviv, and for good reason. There are two locations in the city, both in popular areas. If you are looking for some delicious coffee and pastries, then Black Honey is a must visit shop!
The location near the King Danylo statue is smaller, but has a nice outside seating area perfect for people watching in good weather. The location in Kryva Lypa Passage is my favorite though as it is larger and has a nice location for working.

This is a bit of an unusual coffee shop but one I quite like a lot. When you walk into this cafe you at first might think it’s just a bookstore or library. But that’s what makes it so great. You can go for a flat white and some cake or you can go to buy some books. Or both!
I often go to Bookstore Cafe when I want to pick up some new reading material since I live close by and their drinks are excellent. I also recommend their sour cherry cake which is a traditional Ukrainian recipe.
Lviv Coffee Manufacture is the place to go for all things coffee. The cafe is located right across the square from the Bernardine monastery and makes a great place to chill out on Summer mornings.
You can easily get the standard drinks like espresso or latte, but they also have V60, Chemex, Aeropress, and other new ways of enjoying a brew. Not to mention you can buy all the supplies you need to make these drinks at home.
This cafe is also a great place to pick up whole roasted beans or vacuum sealed ground coffee to bring home as a souvenir of beautiful Lviv.
Location: Valova St, 16, Lviv, Lviv Oblast, 79000
Similar to Lviv Coffee Manufacture, Lviv Coffee Mine is a full suite cafe, with a twist. This is arguably the most popular cafe in the whole city with a beautiful covered terrace as well as an underground cafe to enjoy some brown gold. This place is a hit with weekend holiday trippers because it is right in Rynok Square.
Unlike many coffee shops in Lviv, the ‘coffee mine’ also has a liquor license so you can get plenty of alcohol infused coffee drinks. I highly recommend getting the specialty – coffee brulee. You can only get this drink down in the mine, but they use a blowtorch to caramelize the top of the coffee.
Location: Rynok Square, 10, Lviv, Lviv Oblast, 79008
Another popular cafe in the city center, Kredens Cafe, is one of the largest. It is a great place to bring a laptop and work on the second floor, they also do a fantastic NY style cheesecake, which is very different from a traditional Ukrainian cheesecake.
Kredens has all the traditional and newer ways of brewing coffee, but I always go for the single origin Kenya in a V60.
