Kas is a small coastal town with amazing scenery and a great atmosphere. This is one of those cities where you won’t see a lot of international tourists. Locals know how great Kas is and how many things there are to do. One of the most relaxing things to do is to relax by the sea at one of the many picturesque spots. Here is a list of the best beaches that you can visit around Kas.
Kaputas beach is surely a number one beach that you absolutely must visit while exploring Kas.
Kaputas is known for its beauty. The turquoise clear water and soft yellowish sand will definitely take your breath away. Therefore, locals even from other cities like to come here on weekends.
At Kaputas beach you will find good infrastructure. There is a big food court with many tables, a few changing rooms, and toilets. Overall, Kaputas is a great place to spend a day. It is also considered as one of the best beaches around Kas and around the world in general.
Kaputas beach is located just 15 km away from the city and it is very easy to drive there, take a taxi, or a public bus.
Bilal’s beach is located across the harbor from Kas. To get there you can take a boat taxi (40 TL round trip per person).
Bilal’s beach is one of the 4 beaches that the boat taxi goes to. All of them are located around 500 meters away, so you really can visit all of them if you like, however Bilal’s beach is definitely the best one (it is also the last one).
Bilal’s beach is nothing like Kaputas. Kaputas is more of a wild get away spot (although they have a cafe there). Bilal’s beach will remind you more of a beach club, which technically it is.
At Bilal’s you will see many cute bungalows, sunbeds, and a charming restaurant in the center of it all. The restaurant offers free sunbeds and bungalows if you order over a certain amount per person (not a difficult thing to do, just a few beers and a plate of snacks and you are over the limit).
Bilal’s beach is a very cozy and comfortable place to be. You can find clean toilets, a few showers, and WiFi at the restaurant.
Oludeniz plaj (beach) is one of the most well known beaches in the area. Not just due to the cosines and the beauty of the beach itself, but also due to paragliding.
Oludeniz plaj has great infrastructure. You will see many vendors that sell everything you could possibly need for a beach day: towels, water toys, snacks, drinks, and more.
Directly on the beach there are many well organized sunbathing areas separated by the wooden walking paths. Toilets, and changing rooms are also not a problem at this beach.
The beach is located less than an hour and half drive from Kas, but it really is worth the trip, especially if you are planning on paragliding or want to do some amazing drone photography/videography.
Patara beach is a very interesting spot just an hour away by car from Kas. You can even say that it’s not only a beach, but a whole complex that includes a gorgeous beach, an ancient city, and sand dunes (great spot for sunset watching).
Patara beach is a fine soft sand beach (not a lot of those in Turkey) that is not just a great relaxing spot, but also a very important place for turtle breeding.
Patara beach is where turtles lay their eggs, therefore this beach is protected by the government and has a few regulations that everyone should follow.
First of all, when it’s the breeding season, some parts of the beach are closed and you cannot walk there. And second, you cannot bring your own umbrella to this beach and stick it in the sand, since you can ruin a turtle nest.
Besides these two rules, you pretty much can do your usual beach stuff: relax, sunbathe, and swim.
At Patara beach you will find a restaurant that offers sunbeds (15 TL per one) and umbrellas (15 TL).
To get to Patara beach you will have to pass a gate with a ticket office. Then you will get a card that allows you to visit Patara beach 10 times for 10 days (40 TL per car).
At the same ticket office you can buy an entrance ticket to Patara ancient city. There is actually quite a lot to see: remains of public bath houses, lighthouses, government buildings, and more.
